Head Coach of Enyimba FC of Aba, Finidi George says that their last game on Sunday against defending champions, Rivers United of Port Harcourt will be a classical one as his team will go all out to cage Rivers United since the match will determine the eventual winner of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Both the People’s Elephant and the Pride of Rivers are on 8 points each after four games and have both booked continental tickets for next season. However, Enyimba is maintaining the top position on the log on account of superior goal difference.
George told GTI Media shortly after his side walloped Sunshine Stars of Akure 3-0 on Match Day 4 played on Friday that he is happy with the performance of his boys but was quick to add that the job is yet to be finished until they meet Rivers United.
“I’m happy that my players played to instruction and put up a five-star performance today and we’re going to carry it into our last match which I know will be a classical game because it’s not always easy beating a defending champion. The truth is that before you become a champion, you must beat the reigning one, so we are going to cage Rivers United come Match Day 5.
“We are aware that Rivers United also ended the 21-unbeaten run of Bendel Insurance whom they defeated 2-1 to show you how good they are too. So, it will not be an easy game.
“Both of us are on the same point and that goes to show how interesting that match will be, but we’re prepared,” George assured.
