Lobi Stars put up a strong fight but were defeated 4-2 by Ikorodu City in an exciting Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on Day 8 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Despite their strong preparations, Lobi Stars fell behind 2-0 early on, conceding again in the 18th minute from a corner kick.
In a dramatic turnaround, Ifeanyi Assurance netted two goals in stoppage time, first at 45+5 with a well-placed pass, then with a powerful strike from distance at 45+6, leveling the score at 2-2.
Despite making tactical adjustments and substitutions in the second half, Ikorodu City scored two quick goals in the 57th and 58th minutes and held on for the 4-2 victory.
Lobi Stars had their chances but couldn’t convert, and the final score favored the hosts.
Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi acknowledged the lapses in the team and vowed to address them moving forward.
Lobi Stars will aim to bounce back in their upcoming home game against Bayelsa United in Lafia next week.
