For the second consecutive season, Rivers Angels have emerged as champions of the President Federation Cup.
The Port Harcourt-based side staged a remarkable comeback to draw 2-2 with Nasarawa Amazons in the final, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, before winning 4-2 on penalties.
Nasarawa Amazons had taken a commanding lead through a brace from Olushola Shobowale, putting the “Solid Babes” 2-0 up.
However, Rivers Angels responded with goals from Taiwo Ajibade and Taiwo Afolabi, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
Tosan Blankson’s side kept their nerve from the spot, converting four penalties to Nasarawa’s two, to seal their second straight cup triumph.
Rivers Angels had defeated Naija Ratels 1-0 in the 2024 final. This latest victory marks their 10th President Federation Cup title—further cementing their legacy as one of Nigeria’s most successful women’s football clubs.
