Sunshine Stars Football Club is a Nigerian professional football club based in Akure, Ondo State. The club was founded in 2005 and currently competes in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). They play their home matches at the Akure Township Stadium.
Sunshine Stars FC was founded in 2005 and began playing in the Nigerian National League (NNL) before gaining promotion to the Nigerian Premier League (now the NPFL) in 2007.
In 2011, the club finished as runners-up in the league and also reached the final of the Federation Cup, where they lost to Heartland FC.
Sunshine Stars’ biggest achievement to date is reaching the final of the 2011 Federation Cup, where they finished as runners-up.
They have also reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2012 and the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2012.

- Peter Oboh: The Nigerian midfielder played for Sunshine Stars from 2007 to 2011 and was instrumental in the team’s success during that period. He was named the club’s Player of the Season in 2010.
- Dele Olorundare: The striker played for Sunshine Stars from 2011 to 2014 and was the club’s top scorer in the 2011/2012 season. He was also named in the NPFL Team of the Season that year.
- Prince Aggreh: The winger played for Sunshine Stars from 2012 to 2015 and was a key member of the team that reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2012.
- Tunde Adeniji: The striker played for Sunshine Stars from 2016 to 2018 and was the club’s top scorer in the 2016/2017 season. He was also named in the NPFL Team of the Season that year.
- Dayo Ojo: The midfielder played for Sunshine Stars from 2018 to 2020 and was named the club’s Player of the Season in 2018/2019. He tragically passed away in a car accident in March 2020.
