Remo Stars have emerged champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. Remo Stars made history as the first privately owned club to win the title since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.
They also made history becoming the first south west club to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 25 years since Julius Berger claimed the title in 2000, Extrasportnigeria.wordpress.com.
The Ikenne-based privately owned club sealed their win after defeating Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday with games left in the league just as Liverpool also achieved rightly on the same day with the English Premier League.
Remo Stars’ coach, Daniel Ogunmodede who doubled as the Super Eagles assistant coach has been instrumental in guiding the team to this historic achievement with Remo Stars have being in scintillating form this season.
The Remo Boys currently leading the league table with 68 points, 10 points ahead of second place Rivers United.
Olamilekan Adedayo scored the decisive goal six minutes from time.
The Ikenne-based club sit atop the standings with 68 points from 35 matches.
Second-placed Rivers United have accumulated 58 points from the same number of games.
