The Solid Miners’ quest for a sixth unbeaten run came to a disappointing end this evening as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on match-day 11 of the ongoing 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.
Ibrahim Yahaya and Fabian Nworie’s 14th and 64th minute goals were all the Sai Masu Gida needed to scoop the maximum points off the travellers from Lafia.
The loss, though disheartening, sees Nasarawa United drop to 5th position on the league table, but the Coach Mbwas Mangut’s side remains optimistic of an immediate bounce-back, as he told the Club’s Media that he would leave the disappointment of today behind to focus on the tasks ahead, with the sole objective of changing the narrative.
Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has charged the team never to be perturbed by today’s result.

The Governor who was following the live feeds of the match via the Club’s official WhatsApp platform, wrote, shortly after the match, “Not so a good day for the guys! But that’s the name of the game: win some, and lose some!!
“Have a safe trip back home, guys!!!”,
Also, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim FCNA, who was at the Stadium to cheer the team to victory, equally appealed for calm from supporters and fans of the Solid Miners.
The Commissioner described today’s setback as temporary and a necessary lesson in the Club’s journey, assuring that the Technical Crew and Players remain focused and committed to the season’s objectives.
He noted that attention has now shifted to the visit of border neighbours, Plateau United FC, to the Lafia City Stadium next weekend, where Nasarawa United will be aiming to return to winning ways, and all things being equal, leapfrog to the summit of the log.
