Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu has arrived in Aba to resume his role as the new boss at NPFL champions Enyimba International.
Kanu was appointed earlier this month as the new Chairman of Nigerian giants Enyimba by new Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.
The former Arsenal forward was one of 30 people appointed by the Otti into various roles in the state.
The appointment of the former Nigeria international ended the 24-year reign of Felix Anyansi Agwu in Aba.
Anyansi departs as the club’s most successful Chairman having led the club to several titles including two CAF Champions League.
His final gift to the People’s Elephant arrived last season as Enyimba reclaimed their position as Nigerian champions for the ninth time.
Kanu’s appointment was confirmed by the Governor’s press secretary, Kazie Uko.
Ahead of the new era at the club, the 46-year-old legend has arrived in Aba to begin his position as the new boss.
Meanwhile, Governor of Abia State, Otti, has called on for the ex-Ajax and Inter Milan superstar to make them proud at the club.
Otti noted in a post on his Facebook account that the appointment of the former international is in line with his drive youths to greater heights using sports.
“We hope you make us proud as you take over the helm of affairs as chairman of Enyimba International FC, Aba,” Otti stated.
“Driving Youths and Sports Development to enviable heights is one of the core visions of my administration. The task is humongous, and the real challenge before you is to raise the bar.”
“Kanu, we want to see Enyimba shine on the continental and global stage again. You have the support of our government and the teeming fans of this great club.”
