Coach of Remo Stars of Ijebu-Ode, Daniel Ogunmodede has revealed that the victory his team recorded over Lobi Stars in Match Day 4 is an indication that they did not come to make up the numbers.
Remo Stars on Friday defeated their Makurdi-based counterparts by 2-0 to garner 6 points in the competition.
Prior to that game, they played a 2-2 draw with Enyimba on Match Day I, played another 2-2 draw with Rivers United and followed it up with a 1-1 draw with Sunshine Stars of Akure.
Speaking after the match, an excited Ogunmodede noted that they were described as rookies before the commencement of the tournament but was happy that the performance of his boys has proved bookmakers wrong.
“This is a golden win for me because nobody gave us a chance. They described us as rookies, but we have proved them wrong, and more surprises await fans as the curtain draws on the competition.
He expressed optimism that his side will pick one of the continental tickets available, noting that their last match against Bendel Insurance on Match Day 5 will be approached with all seriousness because a win or draw will guarantee them a continental ticket.
