In an action-packed match-day 29 tie in the ongoing 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League Campaign, the Solid Miners defied the odds with a late free-kick, snatching a 1-0 victory over stubborn Ikorodu City FC of Lagos at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday evening, and returning the team to winning ways.
Defensive midfielder, Bright Amadi’s 83rd minute free-kick capped an electrifying return to win, silencing critics and igniting celebrations among the home fans.
With the maximum points garnered, the win, which moves United to the 3rd position with 47 points, five behind table-topping Rivers United, and three behind 2nd-place Enugu Rangers, revitalizes the Solid Miners’ campaign, injecting momentum into their title chase, with nine matches remaining before the end of the season.
Nasarawa United will travel to Ikenne, Ogun State, for their next game against last-on-the-table Remo Stars FC who lost 4-1 on the road to Rangers in Enugu.
The match comes up on Sunday, 15th March, 2026, at the Remo Stars stadium, by 4pm.

POST-MATCH REACTIONS:
COACH MANGUT MBWAS(TA/NAS): “Before now, we were very much aware of how difficult this game would be, knowing that Ikorodu City are also a team in contention for the league title.
“We gave them a lot of respect in the first-half. We sat back a lot, no chance created, so, we decided to effect some changes in the second half, and you saw that those changes made the difference for us.
“In all, we are grateful to God for the victory, regardless of the scoreline.
“With nine matches to end the current league season, we will continue to improve on our scoring and defending abilities to finish strong on the table.”
