The Ikon Allah Boys’ search for a point on the road proved abortive yet again, as Harrison Ebah’s first-half strike handed Nasarawa United a slim victory at the Lafia City Stadium in the Matchday 6 encounter.
The game began in a ding-dong affair, with both sides struggling to find their footing. The hosts soon took control and began to dominate proceedings, forcing Tornadoes into frantic defending. The Solid Miners broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when centre-back Harrison Ebah won possession and unleashed a long-range effort that beat Isaac Jerry in goal.
The Tornadoes technical team made an early change after Joseph Godfrey was forced off with an injury, with Auwal Sadiq coming on in the 29th minute.
Tornadoes pushed for an equaliser before the break but found a resilient Nasarawa United defence standing firm.
Rainfall disrupted the start of the second half, making conditions difficult as both teams battled for control.
Tornadoes introduced Wasiu Jimoh and Rickson Mendos for Bashir Musa and John Zakka as they pushed for a way back into the game. Despite creating clear chances, the Ikon Allah Boys could not find the equaliser. The introduction of attacking midfielder Michael Olalusi also failed to alter the scoreline, as Tornadoes suffered another defeat on the road.
The Ikon Allah Boys will look to bounce back when they welcome Kun Khalifat FC to the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, in their next home game.
