The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will be without three notable players this weekend as Temple Emekayi, Musa Zayyad, and Mujeeb Odufeso begin their three-match suspensions following straight red cards on the opening day of the season.
Rivers United skipper, Temple Emekayi, will miss his side’s Matchweek 2 clash against Kwara United in Port Harcourt on Sunday after being sent off late in their 1-1 draw with Remo Stars in Abeokuta for a reckless challenge on Alex Oyowah.
Musa Zayyad of El-Kanemi Warriors also begins his suspension after receiving his marching orders in the 74th minute of their 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance.
Meanwhile, Enyimba forward Mujeeb Odufeso will not feature this weekend following a straight red card in the 75th minute of their goalless stalemate with Barau FC in Kano.
The trio are ruled out of Matchweeks 2, 3, and 4, and will only be eligible to return on Matchday 5, subject to selection by their respective managers.
In the weekend fixtures, Rivers United host Kwara United in their first home game of the season at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. El-Kanemi Warriors will be away to Ikorodu City in Lagos, while Enyimba welcome Niger Tornadoes to Aba.
