Three 1-1 scorelines headlined Sunday’s instalment of matchday 28 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL.
Bayelsa United frustrated their hosts Heartland 1-1 in Owerri with Issac Yusuf putting the visitors 1nil up in the 54th minute before Suraj Lawal equalised on 60 minutes to leave the Naze Millionaires 15th in the standings.
Elsewhere in Enugu another 1-1 draw took centre stage as defending champions Rangers International came from behind to equalise against visitors Akwa United just as Nasarawa United surrendered an early minute lead to draw 1-1 against guests Sunshine Stars.
Consequently, Rangers traded places in the table with Kano Pillars who slipped one spot to 6th after falling 0-2 away to 9th placed Kwara United.
Wasiu Alalade sent Kwara 1-0 ahead from the penalty spot on 20 minutes before veteran League campaigner Wasiu Jimoh sealed the win with a 52nd minute effort.
In Aba, winger Joseph Atule curled in a beautiful 29th minute strike to help Enyimba to their second successive win, 1-0, over visiting El Kanemi Warriors while Emmanuel Doyeni’s 54th minute penalty was enough for Plateau United to beat Abia Warriors 1-0 in Jos.
With 10 matchdays left to go, battle for continental places and against relegation is expected to heat up in the championship.
