The surge for continental tickets continued on the part of Shooting Stars as they made it to the Eket township stadium(the adopted home Akwa United) in the m day four of the 2023/24 NPFL season.
The Oluyole Warriors took a lot of confidence into the game against former champion Akwa United haven’t came from behind to defeat Gombe United last weekend. The Oluyole Warriors are without a point on the road this season and with their current fine form, they started the game on a much promising note. The home side tried and searched for an early goal with a quick fire attack in the early minutes of the game but, Darlinton Ovunda, stood tall and was more than capable to deal with all of Akwa United’s threats. The Warriors afterwards began to show their quality as they grew much more into the game. They also created early chances of their own but, wayward strikes from Mustapha Adams and striker,Ayobami Adekunle went astray with no potency to threaten Akwa’s goaltender.
The second half of the encounter saw Shooting Stars doing much of a defensive work as the the home team searched for their first victory of the season under Fatai Osho. Gbenga Ogunbote boys proved too strong for the homers to crack as they stood strong for the entire duration of the game that saw more than eight minutes of additional time.
With this result,Akwa United remain without a single victory, home and away in the league so far leaving them with just two points from draws against newly promoted Sporting Lagos and Shooting Stars.
The Oluyole Warriors’ next game is at home where they will be facing Doma United
