Shooting stars football club of Ibadan played host to Gombe United in the match day three of the 2023/24 NPFL season. The home side coming into the game off their two nil lost awayΒ to Bendel Insurance in the match week two.

Oluyole Warriors fought hard to level things up but,all their effort went without yielding any effort.
Oluyole Warriors started with a very fine and high spirit as they dictated the pace of the game for the first five minutes. In the tenth minutes of the game,a confusing wicked left-footed cross from Gombe Unitedβs Aliko Bala left Shooting stars goalkeeper,Darlinton Ovunda rooted to a spot as the ball went in with no touch from anyone to shock and send the whole stadium into a silence mood. All efforts from the home side to get an equalizer in the half proved abortive with the away side taking the one goal lead back to the dressing room at half time.
The second half started on a believing note with the home team taking the game to the next level. They continued with their impressive high pressing football which took little time to bring forth fruits. A good one-two exchange of pass between Taofeek Malomo and Kayode Oke,opened the way for Malomo to try one with his left foot. His well struck shot went into the far corner to level things up for the home team in the fiftieth minutes.
In search of the winning goal, Gbenga Ogunbote introduced another striker,Anayor Ogbonna to pile more pressure the visitorβs defense line. The match seemed destined for a one all draw when another good flick from substitute Anayor set captain,Taofeek Malomo face-to-face with Gombe United shot-stopper and captain fantastic made no mistake to put the ball calmly into the net for Shootingβs second of the day in the eighty nineth minutes.
The away team looked dejected and broken knowing fully that the time was already against them. The centre referee sounded the long blast of the whistle to draw the game to a close.
