Ikenna Offor Marks A Remarkable Second Half Appearance To Grab A Vital Win For The Ikon Allah Boys, Despite Goalkeeper Johnson Nmecha’s Heroics In Between Sticks For Abia Warriors:
Niger Tornadoes were made to sweat before grabbing a hard earn win against Abia Warriors as new recruit Ikenna Offor grabs a 76th minute goal to secure the win for Coach Majin Mohammed’s side at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna in a Match Day 21 encounter.
The Ikon Allah Boys began the game knowing fully well that only a win could lift them out from the bottom rung of the table and sets out all guns blazing in search of an early goal.
Deruo Chima and Nwani Ikechukwu, alongside Clinton Jephta combine well to cause the visitors problems but goalkeeper Johnson Nmecha shines brilliantly to deny the trio from getting the needed goal.
At the other end, Joshua Enaholo was a free man in-between the sticks as the visitors could rarely make any serious attempt at goal in the first half.
Second half resumes and Tornadoes Technical bench were quick to make changes, as the duo of Bashir Usman and Ikenna Offor were introduced to bolster the attack but Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper continues from where he left off in the first half with some brilliant saves to keep his team in the game.
A sustained pressure from the Ikon Allah Boys results to a goal when Alex Emeka lifted high to connect to Clinton Jephta’s lofted pass and heads the ball towards goal, Ikenna Offor reacted quickest as he stretched his leg and slaps the ball into the net to throw the entire stadium into raptures.
Further efforts to add to the scoreline prove hard even as the visitors surge forward to search for an equaliser but to no avail.
The result moves Tornadoes out of the red zone and occupies the 15th place on log.
