Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, said his side deserved at least a point from Saturday’s NPFL Matchday 20 tie against Enyimba in Aba.
In his post-match reaction after the Oluyole Warriors fell 1-0 to the People’s Elephants at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, the former Sunshine Stars FC handler blamed the loss on carelessness on the part of the team
“The game has been won and lost; we will take the positives. Be it as it may, sometimes you give it your all but you don’t get the desired result, or worse, we deserve a point from this game.
“We were careless with the goal we conceded today; it’s a situation we could have avoided.
“Sometimes, it happens like that in the game. We will go back home, pick up the pieces, and let’s see what happens,” stated the former Rangers International gaffer.
On what to expect from his team in the second stanza, the Oracle, as the tactician is fondly called, expressed optimism that his team will get it right.
“This is the first game; we still have about eighteen games in the second stanza; all we need to do is see what we needed to do that we didn’t do right in this game, and once we get that done, I’m sure we will get it right,” said the former Remo Stars and Enyimba sweat merchant.
One of the oldest clubs across the Nigerian domestic leagues, 3SC are currently placed 11th on the NPFL log with 26 points from 20 matches. Next for them is a trip to Plateau United on February 25.
