Rangers coach, Mbwas Mangut is very bitter as he has declared that the Flying Antelopes are undergoing very difficult times and so unlucky since the commencement of the second phase of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League.
Mangut made this confession after they were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Niger Tornadoes in Awka at the weekend. However, he urged fans of the club to be patient and keep supporting the team.
”This was a big disappointment for us in a game we had total dominance in the first half which we surrendered in fourteen minutes of the second half. It is very painful and we now have to work extra hard to salvage these lost points on the road in our next match.
“It is really a very difficult time for us but we call for patience on the part of our supporters as we need everything to go into the last four games of the season to come up victorious,” he said.
It could be recalled that Rangers surrendered a two-goal lead as the visiting Niger Tornadoes fought back to earn a share of the spoils in a four-goal thriller.
Rangers started the encounter on a bright note with Chidiebere Nwobodo netting the opener in the 24th minute and at the half-hour mark, teenage sensational left-back, Kenneth Igboke, powered home his side’s second goal when he was set up by Nwobodo.
More chances came for the home side to wrap up the fixture in the first half but Nwobodo and Godwin Obaje failed to score on 35 and 42 minutes in one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper, Lucky Jimoh.
The visitors came out of the dressing room for the second stanza looking deadly as their early dominance produced a goal through substitute, Idris Munir who benefited from a hesitant defending at exactly 49th-minute of the tie. However, before the hour mark, it was all square as Munir tapped into a yawning net after some fine dribbling runs from fellow substitute, Nurudeen Jimoh.
Rangers’ star performer Chidera Ezeh even failed to convert a late penalty kick awarded to the home side as the encounter dragged down to a 2-2 draw.
With the result, Rangers dropped to the 8th spot on the Group B log with 15 points from fourteen matches and will battle Dakkada FC of Uyo next in a MatchDay 15 fixture at the ‘Nest of Champions’, Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
