Head Coach of Enyimba FC of Aba, Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance after they piped Lobi Stars of Markudi 1-0 in the Match Day 2 of the ongoing NPFL Championship play-offs even as he stated that the result has thrown the competition open.
The People’s Elephant goal came in the 16th minute when Obioma Chukwuemeka nodded into the opponent’s goalpost after Lobi’s goalkeeper had miss-timed a thrown-in.
George whose team threw away their 2-1 lead in the dying minutes of their first game against Remo Stars in Match Day 1 last Saturday said the four points they’ve gained means that they’re serious contenders to the title.
Enyimba and defending champions, Rivers United are presently on the same points with Bendel Insurance and Remo Stars having two points, while Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars have a point each.
“I’m happy that we were able to overcome the disappointment of the first game and record our first win today. This means that Enyimba and Rivers United are presently on the same point and we’re hopeful that we are getting closer to the title because the competition is now open,” he stated.
