First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Felix Anyansi-Agwu has thumbed up his team, Enyimba International FC on their bold comeback bid in the ongoing NPFL Championship play–offs holding at the waterfront of Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan.
According to the former team chairman, the team played below expectation in its opening game against Remo Stars which became a source of worry to all the supporters and their resurgence against Lobi Stars has given many fans a glimmer of hope, that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
“It was great that Enyimba upped their game in their second outing. Yes, the teams in the championship are all great. The clubs prepared very well and everyone is eyeing the top prize. That is why you are seeing this level of competitiveness. The referees are doing a great job too. NPFL games are fast improving and by the time we enter the regular season in August, you will see massive improvement,” Anyansi-Agwu said.
He added that the championship play-off is still open and until the third game is played, then one would be able to assess the strength and hope of the teams. The seasoned football administrator hopes that at the end of the day, the teams that will emerge for the African club championships will be clearly thrown up.
“The game will be tougher going forward. The top three teams will start emerging even after the fourth matches. It will be good for the growth of our local league at the end of the day and it has even put our coaches and players on the spot. We need such pressure in our league,” he concluded.
