Chief Coach of NPFL defending champions Rivers United of Port Harcourt, Stanley Eguma said his players are fully motivated by the Rivers State Government to bring the trophy back to Port Harcourt positing that although Enyimba will be a hard nut to crack, they are equal to the task.
Rivers United on Match Day 4 broke the 21-unbeaten run of Bendel Insurance with a 2-1 victory to have the same points as Enyimba and immediately after that, the chairman of the club, Barrister Chris Green announced a N5 Million reward to the team and Eguma believes that the largesse will spur his players to put in their best in the last game of the tournament.
“Right now, my players have rediscovered their winning form and that was why we were able to end the unbeaten run of Bendel Insurance. We will take this performance to our last game against Enyimba.
” There’s no doubt that Enyimba is a very strong team and are on the same number of points as us, but I believe that with the present form of my boys and the just announced monetary reward by the club chairman, we don’t have any reason not to put in our best and retain the title,” he stated confidently.
