Morice Chukwu, the scorer of Rivers United FC’s first goal against sleek Bendel Insurance of Benin revealed he was so excited when that goal came as it proved to be the needed tonic that set up Friday’s epic encounter.
He restated that it gave him more confidence cum solid grounding as the game surged on as both teams threw in all within them and made spirited efforts to get control of the match.
“Let me tell you that Rivers United came into the match fully ready and never gave any room for laxity. You saw that we close-marked our opponents in the game. The team ensured it held on tight to the lead.
“The Port Harcourt-based side was focused on ensuring that it does not allow a repeat of the kind of mistake against Remo Stars in Match Day 3. Such match strategy paid off handsomely at the end of the day,” he said.

Every emotion and ingredient that would throw up the winner and ultimate champion for 2022/23 NPFL kingpin would be determined by the Enyimba versus Rivers epic match,” he emphatically declared.
