Young sensation, Garba Mohammed, scored an impressive 40th minute goal in an eye-catching 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League’s match-day 27 clash against hosts, Abia Warriors, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, in Abia State, on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts, known for their aggressive and counter-attacking playing style, took the lead in the 35th minute, courtesy of Sunday Megwo, putting the Solid Miners on the back foot.
However, the Solid Miners refused to give up, fighting hard to create scoring opportunities.
The equalising goal came as a result of a well-coordinated team effort, with Idris Ajiya finding youngster, Garba Mohammed who wasted no time to slot home from close range in the 40th minute, the first league goal for the dangerous winger.
The home side pushed hard to regain their lead but the United’s defence held strong, ensuring a share of the spoils.
The draw pushes the Lafia-based side who are determined to get off the danger zone to 31 points on 17th spot on the league table, just some goals’ difference shy of the escape route.
They will host Sunshine Stars in their next game at the Lafia City Stadium, on Sunday, 9th March, 2025, by 4pm.
