Heartland FC’s resurgence continued in the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL after they drew 2-2 away to Kano Pillars in a Matchday 12 tie.
Suraj Lawal’s second half brace put Heartland on the ascendancy but ageless Rabiu Ali’s goal and Super Eagles’ winger Ahmed Musa’s equaliser saved Pillars from slumping at home.
The win takes Heartland to 10th in the table, Pillars 6th while Remo Stars retained top spot on 23 points despite drawing nil nil at home to 2nd placed Rivers United.
In a high scoring game, defending champions Rangers International beat visiting Brendel Insurance 3-2 to climb to 4th, Enyimba, in 3rd spot, drew 1-1 away to Abia Warriors in a local derby, while Kwara United hit visitors Plateau United 2-0.
Elsewhere in Lagos , in-form Ikorodu City won a 3rd successive game, beating Shooting Stars 2-1 to jump to 8th, Sunshine Stars defeated Lobi Stars 1nil, Bayelsa United drew 1-1 at home to Katsina United just as El Kanemi Warriors pipped visiting Niger Tornadoes 1nil.
