Enyimba FC continued their poor start to the new Nigeria Premier Football League season, following their 1-0 loss against Doma United at the Pantami Township Stadium in Gombe on Wednesday.
Hilary Ekawu’s solitary strike in the 17th minute of the game gave the Savannah Tigers the much needed victory over the People’s Elephant.
Finidi George’s side now occupy the 17th position with seven points from six games following their third defeat of the campaign while Doma United moved to 4th position on the table with 14 points after eight matches.
Meanwhile, Heartland FC’s poor form continued after they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Bayelsa United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Promise Anyanwu scored the opening goal for the Naze Millionaires in the 11th minute and ensured his side went into half-time with a 1-0 score.
Bayelsa United’s press for an equaliser failed to materialise as Chinedu Ike doubled the lead for the hosts 2-0 in the 75th minute.
Just as Heartland were coasting to victory, the Restoration Boys from Yenagoa rallied to score two quick goals in the 83rd and 84th minute through Nneoyi Ofem and Robert Mirzo respectively to earn a valuable away point for coach Deprieye Tebowei’s side.
Heartland FC are winless in the NPFL this season with five draws and three defeats. They remain at the bottom of the table with just 5 points from eight league games.
