The Solid Miners kept their survival hopes alive as they continue to battle against the drop, showing grit and sheer determination on the road on match-day 29, securing a crucial 1-1 draw against former Premier League champions, Kano Pillars, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday afternoon.
The game was a keenly contested affair, with both sides creating scoring opportunities.
League’s legend, Rabiu Ali ‘Pele’, found Auwalu Malam with a great pass inside the box, with the latter calmly slotting past Detan Ogundare in goal for United, to give the home side an 18th minute lead.
Unpeturbed by their hosts’ rich history in the league, Nasarawa United pushed for an equalizer and they got rewarded in the 68th minute through Idris Ajiya’s powerful header via a sumptuous assist from substitute, Benjamin Jack, his fourth goal for the Lafia-based side since joining the team during the season’s break.
United would have won the game but for Benjamin Jack’s last minute miss, allowing both sides to share the spoils.
The Solid Miners remain 17th on the ladder with 33 points, against Pillars 43, and will host the league’s title holders, Rangers International FC of Enugu in their next game at the Lafia City, this weekend.
Before then, the team will stop-over in Jos, where they will face Flight FC of Benue, in the round of 64 tie in the 2025 President Federation’s Cup, formerly known as the FA Cup, during the midweek(wednesday).
