Heartland FC continues to impress in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan on matchday 24. The win places the Naze Millionaires 12th on the league table, with newcomer John Bassey netting his second goal for the club.
Former Iwuanyanwu Nationale midfield maestro, Silvenus Oparanozi, expressed his admiration for the youthful squad, describing their performance as a “dream come true.” Despite battling injuries sustained during his playing days, the former national hero praised the team’s rapid improvement, stating that Heartland’s current form inspires confidence.
“The team has improved so much that one can go to sleep and still believe they will do well,” Oparanozi noted. He also urged Head Coach Emmanuel Amuneke to continue his good work in developing the squad.
The match saw in-form midfielder Chukwuma Agor break the deadlock in the 31th minute, setting the tone for Heartland’s dominance. Bassey’s goal sealed the win, ensuring all three points remained in Owerri.

Heartland now shifts focus to their midweek clash against Niger Tornadoes on matchday 25, as they look to build on their momentum and climb further up the league standings.
