Strategic partners to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the FA Cup, GTI have charged the Super Eagles and its coaching crew to go all out with a perfect strategic technical plan to lift the AFCON 2023 trophy against hosts Cote dβIvoire. The final match is slated for the prestigious Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday, February 11, 2023, at 9pm local time.
GTIβs GMD, Abubakar Lawal, made the call in Lagos after the Super Eagles sent Bafana Bafana of South Africa packing. The outcome of the match was a true test of the resilience of the Nigerian spirit to succeed and a good sign for the development of our football ecosystem.
Nigeria entered the match with a perfect record against South Africa in the elite African football competition having won three previous meetings. They beat Bafana Bafana 2-0 in a 2000 semi-final cracker in Nigeria; 4-0 in a group match four years later in Tunisia and 2-1 in a 2019 quarter-final tie in Egypt.
In the words of Abubakar ahead of the final game on Sunday he reiterated the need for Nigerians to come together in rekindling the winning spirit before the vociferous crowd of Cote dβIvoire as demonstrated in 1980, 1994 and 2013 triumphs to further enhance the brand equity of the country.
