Newly promoted Doma United are back atop the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL standings after they pipped visiting Niger Tornadoes 1nil today in one of Matchday 11 games played at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
Nelson Abiam scored the only goal of the game in the 45th minute to send the Savannah Tigers to the number one spot on 21 points although the lead could change after Sunday’s action.
The Tigers have gone 7 games unbeaten in the top-flight which is largely fueled by goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom’s impressive 7 clean sheets.
Elsewhere in Aba defending champions Enyimba International climbed into 5th position on the back of a 1nil win over visiting Sunshine Stars while the last kick of the game by Junior Osaghe resulted in a goal that earned hosts Bendel Insurance a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City.
The win propelled the Benin Arsenal into 6th place from 8th.
In Uyo, Akwa United’s poor campaign in the competition continued with a 1-1 home draw against Kwara United to remain in relegation zone.
Matchday 11 action concludes tomorrow with 5 games on the card.
