Daniel truly came to judgement when Abia Warriors came, saw and conquered Kano Pillars 1-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, match day 23 fixture Monday in Kano, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
After a pulsating scoreless first period, Daniel Ijeh silenced the ‘Sai Masu Gida’ side with a stunning finish.
And the visitors thereafter stoically tightened their heads unto their necks, defended in numbers till the last 12 minutes (excluding the additional minutes) to run out gloriously with a 1-0 triumph.
The sweet win in Kano makes Abia Warriors the third club to defeat Kano Pillars in their dreaded Kono Pillars Stadium since 2003.
Julius Berger of Lagos were the first to pull down Pillars in Kano following a 2-1 win on June 21, 2003. Interestingly, Bethel Orji, current Abia Warriors coach, was a member of that Julius Berger squad.
Thereafter, Kano Pillars went on to enjoy a 202 games unbeaten run in their Kano Stadium slaughter slab, the most by any club in the World. But that incredible history was erased by Nasarawa United who ca.e, saw and conquered Kano Pillars on August 23 in 2015, thus erasing the 12 years, two months and three days unbeaten run record.
Remarkably, Monday’s performance in Kano makes it Bethel Orji’s two games incharge with two wins after succeeding Erasmus Onu as technical egghead of Abia Warriors who now sit 8th on the NPFL standings with 33 points from 23 games.
