Abia Warriors have put the 1-0 defeat to the Niger Tornadoes behind them to focus on Thursday’s Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 22 clash with Kwara United at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
Having earned only one point out of a possible six in the last two games, the players are eager to make amends by securing a vital win over the Ilorin-based side.
Meanwhile, the captain of the club, Augustine Njoku, has tendered an unreserved apology to fans of the club for the loss against the Niger Tornadoes. He assured them of victory in tomorrow’s game and appealed to them all to come out and cheer the team to victory.
He tells Abia Warriors media: “I want to use this opportunity to say sorry to our fans for the loss last weekend against the Niger Tornadoes at Kaduna. We are very, very sorry, and I apologise on behalf of the team.
“I want to make you guys (our fans) a promise that come tomorrow against Kwara United, we’re going to put our heads together to make sure that we get the maximum points.
“We are not letting any stone unturned; we will make sure we get nothing less than the maximum points. Come tomorrow, God will be on our side.
“I plead with you all to come out en masse and cheer us to victory. God bless you all.”
The team will be without Ali Ishaku, who is out with a knee injury, while Kelechi Nnochiri has commenced light training after being out for a while with an ankle injury.
A new boy, Igwe Igweuzo, has recovered from a slight injury. He trained today with the rest of the squad.
